ABOUT OCTRA

The Orange County Tavern and Restaurant Association is a local chapter of our parent, Empire State Restaurant and Tavern Association which was founded in 1934.  We represent Orange County’s on premise liquor licensees and the associates that service our industry.  Our businesses are heavily regulated under the State Liquor Authority, New York State and Federal law. Compliance can be complex and cumbersome.  Escalating labor costs, insurance expenses and taxes make profitability in our industry an extraordinary challenge.  We work to improve these conditions by advancing our interests  with the Governor and the State Legislature.

We put together and recommend the best money-saving benefits and services for our members. These include Worker’s Compensation insurance, disability Insurance, music licensing, payroll processing, training and cooperative buying of supplies.

Membership in our association is open to any on premise licensee in the hospitality industry.  Non-liquor licensees who support our industry may join as associate members.

ACTIVITIES

In addition to advocating for our membership we are both a social and civic organization.  Our annual events include:

  • Fundraising for scholarships and local food donations

  • Monthly Drop-Ins at your favorite establishments

  • Holiday Luncheon

  •  Christmas Party

Our members support each other. We regularly visit each other’s establishments. We rotate our monthly meetings and socials which take place on Tuesdays.
